Connect & Create

Connect & Create is an award-winning, free, creative wellbeing initiative that brings people together through the transformative power of art. Run in partnership with Southend City Council, Connect & Create is founded on the belief that creativity is essential to personal wellbeing. This Southend-based programme offers a safe, supportive space for adults (18+) to express themselves, connect with others, and improve mental health. We’ve supported individuals – including those living with dementia, facing PTSD or grief, managing long-term mental health conditions, and experiencing social isolation.

What we do: Connect & Create offers free creative wellbeing sessions in a supportive, non-judgemental space. Through art, nature and gentle creative activities, we support people to explore emotions, build confidence, reconnect with others and find moments of calm, purpose and self-expression.

What's on the programme? We offer three unique 10-week art therapy and wellbeing programmes designed to support emotional healing, self-expression, and resilience. Whether you’re navigating mental health challenges or seeking creative connection, there’s a place for you here.

Art Sessions for People with Dementia - These sessions provide tailored, engaging experiences for individuals living with dementia. Each participant is given a personalised art station with materials they enjoy, from painting to collage, clay and other drawing. The activities are gently structured and thoughtfully designed to stimulate cognition, evoke memory, and support varying levels of need, including those with advanced dementia.
