Southend Mencap - Showstoppers

Southend Mencap Showstoppers is a community-based drama and performance project for people with learning disabilities aged 16 and over. Weekly sessions use drama to promote confidence, enjoyment, self-expression, self-awareness, friendship and cooperation in a safe, fun and supportive environment. Please note, there is a cost for this service.

Showstoppers offers drama and performance-based sessions where people with learning disabilities can build confidence, develop self-expression and take part in creative activity. Students are encouraged to be involved in planning and preparing sessions. Carers are welcome to stay and may be essential where health or medication needs require this.

Who can use this service?

People with learning disabilities aged 16 and over.

How are services delivered?

Sessions are delivered in person during term time, with some sessions during the summer holidays. Sessions run Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10am to 3.30pm, at different local venues.
