Further info
Dementia Friendly Cinema: A ‘Look Back Cinema’ – where we show old classic films (often highly musical!). The screenings are not exclusively for those with dementia but we do find that people with dementia and their carers do like to attend (and frequently sing along!) We have fully accessible toilets and can arrange for front seats to be reserved so no stairs/steps need to be taken if required. Attendance is free.
History Club: Runs twice a week and is free and open to everybody. Both settings have fully accessible toilets and everybody is welcome. History Club has a full and varied schedule and includes exhibition tours, talks, workshops, days out and even behind the scenes volunteering opportunities! You can attend as much or as little as you like. Attendance is free.
Gardening Club: (Once a month in the winter and twice a month in the warmer months). Again, this is free to attend and open to everybody. We tend the community garden next to the Central Museum. You do not need any particular gardening skills to contribute, just general tidying and pottering around is perfectly fine as is a little landscaping project or developing a bed. Attendance is free.
Elderflowers: A chance for anyone to come along have a cup of tea and do some knitting or crafting. if desired, creations can be displayed and sold Museum events/craft fayres. Attendance is free.
Scholarly Screenings: Here we screen film that are in line and support the governments recommended academic reading list but you don't have to be a student to attend, why not pop along and see an old favourite. Attendance is free.
