Our Exercise Referral Scheme provides a safe, supervised and enjoyable introduction to physical activity within a controlled environment. It gives people who are not regularly active or who have a health problem the opportunity to improve their health and well-being, regardless of age, ability or experience. Days and times of opening will be dependent on the needs of the client and agreed with the instructor. There is a charge for this service.

The Exercise Referral Scheme takes place across the centres within the Southend contract; Southend Leisure & Tennis Centre, Shoeburyness Leisure Centre and Belfairs Swim Centre. The scheme involves a mix of gym, studio classes and swimming and is for anyone over the age of 16 and lives or works in Southend that currently are physically inactive, have an existing health condition or have risk factors for health conditions (eg overweight, high blood pressure etc).
The GP referral membership offers a huge discount, priced from £22 per month for 3 months and includes swim, gym GP referral classes. Everyone Graduates after 3 months to either £31 per month for the GP referral with no group exercise or £32 per month with group exercise classes e.g. Pilates, yoga etc. Or you can Pay as you Go - £5.00 per swim, gym, wellbeing class. GP referrals can be made through Frontline.
For self-referrals visit our website HERE or phone us on 01702 613000. Our instructor will contact you to complete the pre-screening and to set up your account which will allow you to book sessions. Once you receive your account details, you'll be able to set a password and start booking swimming or GP referral classes.
